Meeting Melissa and Let the Party begin!

Since we arrived so late in Nanning (1:00am due to fog/smog) they changed the gotcha time to the afternoon.

When the elevator opened and a precious lithe girl came out with a huge smile on her face- I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Then she came right up to me and called me Momma as she sat on my lap!

She had adorable little pigtails in her hair and wore bright colors! She smiled from ear to ear as we handed her a backpack with a build a bear and toys in it!

Mia watched all of this- taking it all in. She stood close by and took pictures.

Melissa chattered away, smiling all the while! It was so different from our last gotcha day. This time the hotel was a perfect place to meet our new daughter! We visited with our guide and the director, asked questions and exchanged information. When they left we went to our rooms and the fun began!

Mia liked not being the newbie, not having everyone stare at her and not being the youngest. She was fine with the attention drawn to Melissa. Mia even took it upon herself to show Melissa the ropes- guiding her here and there and showing her things! It was cute and heartwarming! After all Mia had been with us for 48 hours- she knew all there is to know- just kidding! But it really was wonderful to see!

Melissa is a hoot- she is animated and has a lovely sense of humor. The girls began talking... in Chinese and it was so good to hear Mia speak!

Mark has been a huge help! He is such a fun big brother!

We all went out to dinner with our guide- the food was great!! And oh by the way it was our 31st anniversary! What a wonderful way to celebrate it- in China with 2 new daughters! Melissa held my hand immediately as we crossed the streets! Mia had a hard time holding anyones hand so Sarah just grabbed her arm and led her safely to where we were going.

(PS- I am a day behind in my posts so I can hardly wait to share our progress with you in the next post!! But you'll have to wait!)

Tonight was bath night for the girls. We held off until we thought Mia was ready. They started off taking a shower, together which then turned into a bath, together. Tub toys and color changing Barbies were part of the fun! They giggled and laughed until they were wrinkled and it was time to get out of the tub. I wish I had more pics of the evening but as Mia was becoming a little more comfortable and Melissa was a ball of energy I chose not to take out the camera. I hope to get cozy jammy pics in the near future!

The energy continued to bedtime. Both had a hard time falling asleep. They wanted to sneak out and visit Ge Ge Mark down the hall. Daddy had to sleep at the end of their bed until they fell asleep in order to keep them contained!

It was so evident to us how God had orchestrated the adoption of these two girls. How could it be that they would come to our family together and so quickly be so good for each other!
